1985 123 Some changing of the guards occured parallel to these developments. After decades of faithful services our former President, Mr. Richard W. Kyslinger and Treasurer, Mr. John Bertok, Jr. took the positions of Vice- President and Assistant Treasurer, respectively. We celebrated them with grateful hearts partly because of their past services, partly because their deep concern for the future of our Church. Mr. Harvey J. Bamum, Presi­dent and Mrs. Clara E. Kovács, Treasurer took their post with great enthusiasm and sincere commitment. They receive the support of their predecessors which made the transition smooth. Our Second Vice President is Mrs. Linda L. Archer. We have two Secretaries Mrs. Candy Ernst and Mr. William Humlan, Jr., Mr. Kenneth Shaw our Auditor, Mrs. Fran Barnum is our Deacon. Mrs. Helen Creaven, Mr. Elmor Ernst, Mrs. Joanne Farkas, Mrs. Charlene Gergely, Mr. William Humlan, Sr., Mrs. Helen Humlan, Mr. George Kalóz, Mr. Joseph Pacolay, III, Mrs. Eileen Pacolay, Mrs. Barbara Ruhe and Mrs. Elaine Shaw are our Elders. The leaders of our Women’s Guild are: Mrs. Candy Ernst, President; Mrs. Elaine Shaw, Vice-President; Mrs. Fran Barnum, Secretary and Mrs. Gladys Lorenchick, Treasurer. Newly introduced monthly communion services deepened our devotions in 1984. Thirty new pew Bibles were added to the old ones. Miss Lori Squires helped us at the organ at youth fellowship meetings and when our Organist, Mrs. Barbara Ruhe was on vacation. Matthew Booth, Jayson Gergely, Cortney Hodge and Lisa Hodge took their confirmation vows and received their first Holy Communion at Pentecost. We reorganized our Christian education program. Bible study moved from mid-week to Sunday after service with more participation and outside visitors. Mrs. Elaine Shaw is our new Sunday School Superintendent and Mrs. Betty Hodge and Chrissy Barnum are our Sunday School teachers. The Pastor has an additional Christian Education class for children on Fridays. God’s Gang and Kids for Christ youth fellowship groups meet once a month with the leadership of Mr. Harvey Barnum and Mr. Ken­neth Shaw. New Hope Fellowship merged into the newly organized Church Growth and Outreach Board. Family Fellowship Festivals are held on the last Sunday of the month. Our Church hosted the Central Classis annual fall meeting. The Pastor lectured on “Our Ministry to the Elderly.” She also served as guest speaker on the topic of “Conditions for Church Growth” at the annual spring meeting of the Eastern Classis in Passaic, N.J. The Bethlen Home continues to be our number one mission field. Bethlen Home Sundays, visitations, personal contacts, gifts and donations are on our agenda. This year the Pastor was elected member of the Board of Managers of the Home representing the Calvin Synod Conference for a four year period. Operation Diakonia is the name of our ministry to the needy among us and occasionally outside of the congregation. The monthly special col­lects and our foodbank are blessed tools in the hand of Jesus Christ. Thanks to Mrs .Fran Barnum, our Deacon. We have a new neighbor right across to our backyard, the John Kane Regional Center for the elderly. The hospital was searching for volunteers
