Frank Demes: The American-Hungarian Reformed Presbyters' Association

1984 73 formed Church here in America, we must start now to renew “our” role and increase “our” significance in the life of our churches. We hope those of you who attended the 37th Annual Conference did return home to your church with a renewed spirit and that you will attend the 38th Annual Conference next year and bring witli you that spirit and many more faithful presbyters. We were saddened this year by the passing of Miss Ethel Mo’nar who last year was re-elected as vice-president for the Lakeside District. “Aunt Ethel” as she was known to many of us, has always had a special love for our youth and worked hard to teach and counsel those not only at her own church but also at our national youth conferences. I am sure you will, as we did at the Presbyters’ Conference want to pause for a few moments to remember her and all her good deeds. As described by our by-laws, I appointed Mrs. Elizabeth Fejes of Toledo, Ohio to fill the vacancy created by the untimely passing of Miss Molnár. I hope all of you will join me in welcoming Elizabeth Fejes (Betty) as the new vice-president of the Lakeside District and support and encourage her in her efforts as I am sure you did Miss Molnár. I wish to express the Presbyters Association’s appreciation to the Bethlen Home, its administrator, Rev. Paul Kovács and his staff for their hospitality and participation during our conference. We were, and felt like “Family.” I also want to thank the Executive Committee for all their help and efforts to prepare and organize the 37h Annual Conference. We cannot exist by or for one person. We can and will survive though and will grow as an organization to fortify the Hungarian Reformed Churches here in America if we as presbyters work as hard in our own congregations as my fellow officers did here. We hope many of you presbyters who could not join us this year will come to the 38th Annual Conference to be held in Ligonier, Pa. on Labor Day weekend, September 2 and 3, 1984. Please join with us till then, to renew our significance and role as presbvters in the life of “His,” ours, your “Church.” I want to close with a greeting which I hope will become “our,” the Presbyters Association’s own greeting, Áldás, Békesség, Frank Demes, President
