1984 133 NORRIDGE, ILL. Lelkipásztor: Parragh Dezső There are two occasions each year when we emphasize a family get-together for our church members and friends. The first occasion occurs in March in connection with the installation of the officers and elders at a solemn combined service, followed by a dinner prepared by the Ladies Aid and Women’s Guild. The other occasion is always the first Sunday of November when the church celebrates of its founding at a combined service and dinner. At the end of October and the beginning of November we have three important Sundays when we gather the membership and also friends at our church. The last Sunday of October we celebrate Reformation Day and emphasize our heritage. On the first Sunday in November we celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the church, and the second Sunday in November a Thanksgiving communion closes the three Sunday celebration. A few years ago the Congregational meeting decided to hold the yearly regular meeting on the second Sunday in March because the inclement weather in January made it almost impossible to hold a meeting. The March yearly regular meeting makes it possible for older church members to attend the meeting every year. The Lenten period in our church also brings prayer emphasis closer to every church member because this is the time when the purposes of our church are commended into the prayers of the church membership. The greatest problem facing the Building Committee is the decision whether a Church building built at our existing property will be able to serve the membership and community for a number of years or whether the area will soon become a changing neighborhood where it would be unwise to build a church. During the Lenten period and between Easter and Pentecost a special emphasis was placed upon the adult Bible Class. The theme of the Bible class was: The Church of Jesus Christ in the World. The president of the Ladies Aid Society, Mrs. Mary Kish in memory of her husband Alex Kish and their son, the Reverend Attila Wm. Kish, donated cloth covers for the Hungarian hymn books. The covers were made in Hungary with the embroidered chalice on the front cover. The Women’s Guild replaced the old English hymnbooks with new Service Hymnals emphasizing through their donation their love of the church and its services. The pastor’s brother, the Reverend Sándor Parragh visited the United States in 1979. He passed away suddenly on May 20th. It was heartwarming that many of our church members and friends not only remembered him but expressed their love through gifts in his memory. The Ladies Aid of our church celebrated its 65th anniversary' at a combined morning service on August 8th. Most of the churches of Western Classis were represented at the celebration and at the buffet luncheon which
