Bethlen Naptár, 1983 (Ligonier)
Kálvin Egyházkerület
98 BETHLEN NAPTÁR Our new choir 5. We have a very fine choir of 20 members, which enhances our worship services greatly, under the direction of Nancy Vaughn. 6. In August we started a Coffee Fellowship Hour after the English Service. The joyful atmosphere cannot be put into words... 7. Our first newsletter came out in October, and we rejoiced over the opportunity to finally start keeping in touch with all the shut-ins and friends of the church. This was made possible through the purchase of a Mita 135 duplicating machine which we purchased for $2,750.00. It is one of the finest duplicators available in its class. 8. And for the first time in the history of our church, we established a proposed budget!!! This is a giant step for our church — it shows that we are conscientiously taking definite steps towards growing. We are also taking steps to communicate to our community that they are welcome to worship with us. The fact that we now have six paid staff members also shows a realization on the part of the congregation that for success to happen — we must make it happen. We realize we must reach out and learn what “The Great Commission” means in our own back yard. We continue to worship in both the Hungarian and English languages. While our English congregation has grown in spirit and in numbers, the Hungarian services have remained the same in attendance. We look forward to this coming year with great anticipation and hope in the Lord. If this last six months has been a foretaste of what is to come in 1983, we will begin to understand “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man conceived, what God has prepared for those who love him” (1 Cor. 2:9).
