138 BETHLEN NAPTÁR In 1982 our Church School, Bible classes, Women’s Guild, Brotherhood and Hungarian School fostered a true God-centered awareness. Our present membership is 577. Having said all of this, let me add that a spirit of adventure is still a part of our congregations life. This past year found us involved in two new ventures. First, an exchange was shared with the Calvin Hungarian church in Fairfield. Our Hungarian worshippers were the guests at Calvin during the month of July, while for the month of August the Calvin Hungarian worshippers were our guests. This exchange was well received by both congregations and we hope to continue this type of cooperation with Rev. Havadtoy and his congregation in the future. Second, due to the high cost of higher education for our young people and the discontinuation of many types of government loan programs, The Connecticut Hungarian Scholarship Fund was established. A very successful fund raising dinner dance was held in our United Hall which allowed us to give 8 scholarships ranging from $300 to $100. The hope of the Scholarship Fund is that as we support young people of Hungarian background from the area, they will be able to take their places of leadership in the future. There can be no doubt that our congregation will continue to foster Hungarian causes as well as serve the people of God. While our history is rich as a congregation, it is also a stimulus to continue to do more for the Kingdom and the Hungarian community.
