Bethlen Naptár, 1983 (Ligonier)

Kálvin Egyházkerület

120 BETHLEN NAPTÁR Spire’s star of Bethlehem typical of Hungarian church 9:30 AM, and English Service at 11:00 AM. We also have a nice attendance at our Adult Sunday School — average 15. This past summer, the church property was hailed as one of the most outstanding well-kept yards in all of Columbus. There was a full-page article about this in the Columbus Dispatch Paper. Our organizations continued to work very hard for our loved church with the usual Hungarian-type events. Our youth attended the Calvin Synod Youth camp this summer and are also very active around the church. This year will be remembered as one that ended an era. Our oldest and only charter member passed away at 99 years 9months and 12 days old. Özv. Bordi Mária was born in Dicsőszentmárton, Kis- Kiiküllő megye, Hungary. This is no longer a part of Hungary. She, not only, was a charter member, but also was the 2nd couple to be married in this church on May 31, 1906. Mr. and Mrs. George Bordy also donated the Holy Comunion set that we still use today. Her daughter and daughter-inlaw had the Communion set replated with silver for our 75th Anniversary which was held last year. Our organizations’ Presidents: Women’s Guild: Mrs. Janet Vegh; Brotherhood: Mr. Terry Albert; Choir Directors: Mrs. Ellen Kallós and Mr. Andy Czompi; Lorantffy: Mrs. Margaret Leonardo; Sunday School Superintendants: Mr. and Mrs. Andrew and Jean Detroi; Youth Fellowship: Miss Jennifer Vegh. Our deepest pride is our Bible Study, that shows there is a hunger for the Word. Lead by the pastor and his wife, Bethel, it averages 24 persons and meets once a week.
