86 BETHLEN NAPTÁR Vice President, Mr. Richard J. Gergely was hoth the general Chairman of the whole Village and the faithful Chairman of our own activities. The service of the International Village yielded enough money to buy the bestin-the-market brand new Gestetner electronic mimeo machine and scanner almost in the value of our organ. The value of the three instruments of service exceeds $10,00.00. And the left-over will be enough to buy a film projector for our youth group, and a deep fryer for our fundraising activities. So we can report with joy and thanksgiving that there is no inflation in God’s household and His finances work just like when Jesus Christ entertained the five thousand. Great is His faithfulness! Our Consistory functioned responsibly with the dedicated leadership of Mr. Richard W. Kyslinger. More and more young voices are heard at the meetings, new attitudes, new ideas, new programs are urged and implemented. We have weathered some storms, but have come a long way toward the true atmosphere of genuinely Christian, constructive business meetings and cooperation. Mrs. Yolanda Kardos, the long time President of our Women’s Guild first moved out of McKeesport, then the Lord called her home. Due to this fact the reorganization of our Women’s Guild became most urgent. With the leadership of Mrs. Helen Creaven, President, new officers were elected: Mrs. Bertha Kyslinger and Mrs. Margaret Falcsik Vice Presidents, Mrs. Gladys Lorenchick, Treasurer; Mrs. Irene Dean, Secretary and Mrs. Candy Ernst, Auditor. They took their office vows on December 28, 1980. Monthly meetings, a successful Christmas Bazaar, Raffle, and Easter Sale, participation in Good Neighbor’s Day (First Price), helping with the International Village are the highlights of their most appreciated faithful activities. The Guild contributed $3,500.00 to our Treasury. We baptized one adult and four babies, had an adult confirmation, received two new members,, had a confirmation class of ten terrific youngsters. The latter had their semi-finals on June 25th. Two of our prominent members passed away, Mr. Frank Behary and Mrs. Yolanda Kardos. This year our Nursery was established and furnished for our growing number of babies and toddlers. Our Sunday School experienced a couple of crises because of the laziness of the parents and the scarcity of Sunday School teachers. Things are back to normal since Mrs. Candy Ernst can devote more of her time to this service, and since Chrissy Barnum joined our staff. She is a candidate for confirmation, an excellent young Bible scholar and the most devoted teenager teacher we have ever seen. Vacation Bible School, Christmas Play and Party were the outstanding events of the year. This fs the first time when, after almost two decades, we have a youth fellowship. Is it not wonderful? Their enthusiastic leader is Mrs. Fran Barnum. She organized and led field trips, meetings, fundraising activities and has great plans for the future. Our Young Adult Fellowship assumed the name of “New Hope Fellowship” and their activities can be found behind all the future oriented programs of our Church.
