1982 235 RETIREMENT LIVING Today there is a growing shortage in the United States of decent housing for low and moderate income people. Millions are living in run-down buildings, vulnerable to deadly fires, suffering from inadequate or no heat and hot water, with little in the way of security against robbery or personal attacks. Won’t you think for a moment that it is mighty important to insure yourself against the twin plagues of old age: loneliness and depression. Successful retirement is a way of living. We can call it “life style” or “quality of living“ and its essence is: independence, security, com­panionship and good health. Too often retired people are not free. Many want to be and cannot. You have worked hard all your life. Now you deserve some respite from responsibility. What a wonderful feeling, then not to be dependent on friends, relatives or neighbors. The Bethlen Home Retirement Center master plan calls for 20 apart­ments with a centrally located Community Center building for use by these apartments. Executive Committee with the Rev.
