Bethlen Naptár, 1981 (Ligonier)

Egyesült Államok - Kálvin Egyházkerület

1981 BETHLEN NAPTÁR 67 A minor membership growth was one of the joys with which God suprised us. 1980 was the first year in the long long run when the beautiful babies and few new members outnumbered the dear ones departed. Between October 1979 and 80 we baptized five babies, two adults, received three new members and buried only five loved ones. Our Church regards the Bethlen Home and the Buenos Aires sisterchurch as our personal burden of service. Visitations with gifts, devotions and fellowship, a Bethlen Home Sunday and donations mark our road on these small mission fields. 1980 was election year. Both the Consistory and the Women’s Guild received some healthy “blood transfusion” through the election of young people in the leadership. The good old faithful ones are still in charge (may the Lord richly bless them!), but they are not struggling alone with the problems any more. Here they are: President: Mr. Richard W. Kyslinger, Vice President: Mr. Richard Gergely, Treasurer: Mr. John Bertok, Jr., Auditor: Mr. Andrew Balogh, Secretary: Mrs. Candy Ernst, Consistory: Mr. Harvey Barnum, Mrs. Helen Creaven, Mr. Elmor Ernst, Mrs. Yolanda Kardos and Mr. Steve Nyilas. Women’s Guild, President: Mrs. Yolanda Kardos, Vice President: Mrs. Helen Creaven, Treasurer: Mrs. Fran Barnurq and Secretary: Mrs. Fern Hadar. May the Lord be glorified for the hard and faithful work they have performed for His Church and Kingdom. We love and honor them all. Fundraising activities were fervent and frequent during the period of the present report. Monthly kolbas making workshops, a three-day Christmas Bazaar, two Rummage Sales, two Raffles and participation in the annual International Village were our milestone. The Women’s Guild was so very much helped with these activities, that we may honestly state: with us fundraising is the service of the whole congregation. We have weathered extremely tough times, have not become millionaires, but survived financially, and somewhat more than that. These workshops brought us together at a higher level of fellowship we have ever known before. Our Church has become a big family: God’s family and members of each other. Preparing food for twenty some thousand people without getting into each other’s hair is a spiritual achievement of grand order. No praise is exaggeration in appreciating the high quality, self-sacrificing hard work of our membership. They showed their faithfulness on the little to a faithful Head of the Church. * * * PITTSBURGH, PA.
