Deborah Mondon: Activities in the Bethlen Home

206 BETHLEN NAPTAR 1981 ACTIVITIES IN THE BETHLEN HOME It has been a year of forward steps for the Activities Program at Bethlen Home. Remodeling the old offices gave us a new room adjoining our previous Activity Room. A large open door-way between the two rooms makes it cooler in the summer and allows us plenty of room to maneuver wheelchairs for group activities such as Bingo and Movies. Needless to say, we are very happy and feel fortunate to have such a nice place to meet together. The Activities Program continues to keep residents involved in past-times that are pleasing and beneficial to them. In last years Almanac, I told you about the many programs and entertainments offered and how so many of our residents enjoy being a part of them. Our goal is still to provide “Something to do, Something to love, Something to hope for” for each resident, and a new facet will soon be added to our gem of a Home—a Volunteer Services group is being organized and will be operational in January of 1981. We feel that this group of caring individuals will provide a much needed service to our residents: a one-to-one interaction that is so important to keep lonliness and isolation from their lives. In adding years to their lives, it is also important to add life to their years. A special friend to chat with,
