His 78th birthday and the 50th anniversary of his ordination for the service of the church is approaching and the 40th anniversary of his ordination for the Ministry of the Gospel was at last Christmas time, December 26, 1940. He planned to retire from the ministry with the end of September 1980. At the request of the Session of the present congregation and of the Chief Executive of the Presbytery, he continues to serve until he can. He is in good health, but the weight of the years on his shoulders is felt. The Lord will show to us what His will is. * * * NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ. — Pastor: Rev. Joseph G. Bodnar On October 1, 1979 the Bayard Street Presbyterian Church started a 13 month drive to raise $75,000 to renovate the exterior of the church building. At the time this report is written $70,000 has been already raised and the congregation paid the Garden State Brickface Inc. for the exterior renovation. The renovation project included the covering of the entire outside of the church building with a new stucco finish from the foundation to the top of the tower. The project has been an all out member campaign and most of the money has been secured through gifts from the 275 members. Other funds have come from church fund raising activities of which all the groups of the congregation took part. The church was dedicated in November, 1980. It was a part of the New Brunswick Tercentennial activities. The beautified building was presented as a birthday present to the city and to the glory of God.
