Paul Kovács: Do You Know?

30 BETHLEN NAPTÁR DO YOU KNOW?... The Bethlen Nursing Home is a non-profit health care facility of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America, serving for 58 years more than 3,000 people in the Western Pennsylvania area with quality and loving care. We serve in two levels of nursing care, Intermediate and Skilled and are certified for Medicaid. In the Spring of 1980 we will be adding a third level of care with the completion of our first Retirement Care Unit. The Administration endeavors to provide the best in medical, social and spiritual care for its residents. The By-Laws state that “the Board of Directors shall generally formulate and administer the policies governing admission to the Home for the Aged. Priority shall be given to the members of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America.” We also serve the neighboring areas regardless of race, color or creed. Rev. Paul Kovács, administrator of the Bethlen Home, holds a current Pennsylvania State license as a Nursing Home Director, is a member of the American College of Nursing Home Administrators and the Pennsylvania Association of Non-Profit Homes for the Aging. The Professional Medical staff provides 24 hour continuous nursing service for the Skilled and Intermediate care units. Physicians are on call 24 hours of the day. Some patients continue to receive medical care from their personal physicians. Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Nurses Aides, Physical Therapy Certified Technician, Pharmaceutical services, Activity Director, under the direction of an Occupational Therapist, Dietician, Medical Records Secretary, Office Personnel and Maintenance complete the complement of people working continuously to insure the comfort and well being of our residents. Room charges vary with the types of rooms and the rates are available for review in the Administration office. Intermediate care is the level between Residential living and Skilled Nursing care. In this level, nursing services are less in demand. Such care provided in the Intermediate level is: Assistance with dressing, bathing and the distribution of medications. Skilled nursing care is administered around the clock. It is a subhospital situation where intensive nursing needs are met. The Retirement Care Units, which will consist of 1 bedroom, bathloom, living room, dining area, kitchen and garage, will be visited once each week by a Registered Nurse, who will check on the residents. These units will allow for healthy retirees to live out their golden years in comfort. When another level of care is needed, they will be transferred to the Nursing Home. All areas are involved in the Activities and Social programs of the Home. Religious services are held weekly. Many community groups give generously of their time and love to entertain the residents. Those who are able are free to shop and visit outside the facility. Guests are welcome at
