Bethlen Almanac

158 BETHLEN ALMANAC WARRENVILLE, Connecticut “Its pastor the Rev. Joseph Urban and the congregation has accomplished many great achievements during the last year. In March they dedicated new flags, in November they remembered their 30th anniversary. A very loyal and industrious congregation.” (Prom the report of the Dean of the Eastern Classis) ALBANY-SCHENECTADY, New York A mission station under the supervision of the Dean. Three different generations of Hungarian immigrants are represented in the membership of 138 people, receiving pastoral service monthly. Besides Dean Csordás, the Reverend Paul Ferenczy, László Betfia and László Kovács were ministering to this congregation. If the regular supply of this mission station could be solved it would have great promise for the future. (Prom the report of the Dean of the Eastern Classis) ROCHESTER, New York It has been the fruit of the new missionary enterprise of the Hungarian Reformed Church. After Dr. László Betfia organized the Congregation the Rev. Bela Sohajda served until December 1958. Since March 6 the Reverend Alexander Toros serves the Rochester Church as agreed by the Dean of the Eastern Classis and the Church Council, presently headed by Mr. Imre Kadas Chief Elder. The Church services are held in the Pilgrim Chapel of the Central Presbyterian Church on Sunday afternoons. We hope to have our services on Sunday morning. It would probably help us to reinvigorate our church life and to achieve new results. The Hungarian Reformed Church has two more mission stations in the Eastern Classis: that of Long Island with the service of László Kovács, a former theological student of Debrecen Seminary, and our mission station in Syracuse, which has been organized by the Rev. Bela Sohajda. Both mission stations are under the supervision of Dean Gabor Csordás. WESTERN CLASSIS Dean: Rev. Louis Nagy. Classical Curator: Mr. Gabor J. Balogh. Ministerial Clerk: Rev.
