Officers and supreme council members of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America 1957-1961

226 BETHLEN NAPTAR JOSEPH BENEDEK, familiarly called Joe, was born in Tisza Agtelek, County of Szabolcs, Hungary, where he attended elementary school, followed by two years of study at the Gymnasium in Sárospatak. Upon coming to the United States as a young boy he continued his education in the public schools, and took a business course. Mr. Benedek owned a restaurant in Warren, Ohio, and also worked in the local steel mill. While in Warren he helped organize the Hungarian Presbyterian Church in that city, was an active member of the Consistory, and became chief elder. He joined the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America in 1939 and developed great interest in the field of insurance. Three years ago, he decided to devote all of his time to insurance, becoming Manager of the Ohio District of our Federation His wife Irene shares his enthusiasm for his work. The Benedek family lives in Cleveland and attends the East Side Church. Joseph, Jr. 22, Robert C. 17 and I. Yolanda 12, are the Benedeks’ children, who also enjoy their father’s favorite sport: baseball. Mr. Benedek’s chief hobby is reading. He has a good ear for music, his instrument being the violin. Joseph Benedek DR. JOHN CSORBA, a native of Budapest, a Doctor of Laws, a past Director of Public Affairs in Hungary, is a new-comer to our United States. He emigrated to this country during the great influx of displaced persons and has adjusted himself completely to our way of life. In the employ of the Federation since January 1, 1954, Dr. Csorba is one of our most enthusiastic workers as Section Manager in New York City. His untiring efforts in the New York District have shown excellent results not only in membership increase but in membership retention as well. His fine business ability has proved an asset in the management of our New York office. Having spent six years of his life in active military service, embracing both World Wars, Dr. Csorba is a student of world affairs, and took an active part in making history. In looking back over the years and reflecting nostalgically on the past, he says his hobbies were boxing and fencing, both now replaced by hard work in order to make up for time and property lost in two great world upheavals. Our best wishes to Dr. Csorba for much success in his new field of work! Mr. Joseph Dula, Dr. Tibor Háló, and Mr. James Percei, Jr. our section and city representatives in Cleveland, O., Detroit, Mich., and Toledo, O. Dr. John Csorba
