Bethlen Naptár, 1957 (Ligonier)
To Our New Generations
BETHLEN NAPTÁR 205 THE PRESENT. Because of the continuous growth of our Federation, a few years ago we sold our first headquarters, and acquired another very valuable piece of property — the present “Kossuth House”, in Washington, D.C. In this large, modern and more suitable home office, the four officers and nine employees are working full time to take care of our membership, which increased to 35,412 by January 1956, and our assets, amounting to $7,374,630.68, which represents 32 million dollars’ worth of insurance in force. At the time these lines are being written, we have well passed the above figures, and at the close of the year 1956, we are certain to be able to report even more substantial figures. There is order and peace in our 204 active branches located in 21 states, and we can recall with praise the faithful work by which the District and Branch Managers attend to local needs. We look forward with confidence to an even greater future, and believe that the creative force of our Magyar heritage and the strength of our Calvinist faith will surmount all possible obstacles, and our Federation, American in spirit, Magyar in origin and Christian in character, will remain as such for many, many years to come, as it was intended to be, and for which it was dedicated in name also: The Hungarian Reformed Federation of America! If we stop to think and seriously consider what the Reformed Federation has given its members and others over the above its chief commodity — insurance — we shall conjure up in our minds the Biblical picture in which we can see the waters of life spring up in the midst of our Federation. The life-giving and healing waters have poured out from the Federation, overflowing into the cities, the country — the new and the old alike — and even into the whole world. They have flooded the homes and lives of many people, and wherever they have rolled, they have brought blessing, hope, healing and life. How much poorer our present day lives, and the future of our new generations would be, if there were no Hungarian Reformed Federation of America! Youth, and all members of our new generations! We can, without fear of contradiction, firmly assert that a member of the Reformed Federation receives much more than insurance. While the insurance protection he receives is of the best, he also is the recipient of everything else the Federation offers, whether directly or indirectly. Truly, he is blessed, so that he may be a blessing for others. THE THIRD HERITAGE. The Bethlen Home of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America is a charitable institution for orphans, dependent children, and old people of our faith and race, located in one of the most scenic sections of western Pennsylvania. The State of Pennsylvania is known for its wooded mountain ranges and verdant valleys, among which the towering and stately Alleghenies are the most beautiful. In a cup-like valley of these giants lies the Borough of Ligonier. Just north of the Borough, on a hill lined with imposing
