146 BETHLEN NAPTÁR their salaries. The general meetnig also made some modifications in the by-laws, and correspondingly fixed the rules concerning the rights of representation for the 1956 cconvention. The Present. Because of the growth of our Federation, a few years ago we have sold our first headquarters, and acquired another very valuable property, the present “Kossuth House”. In this large and more suitable home office, the four officers and nine employees are working full time to take care of our membership, which have increased to 34,697 by December 31, 1954, and of our assets, amounting to $6,749,282.72, representing 30 million dollars worth of insurance in force. At the time these lines are being written, on October 30, 1955, we have well passed even these figures, and at the close of the year we are sure to be able to report even better figures. There is order and peace in our 208 active branches located in 21 states, and we can recall with praise the faithful work by which the branch managers attend to the local needs. We are publishing as part of this book the names and photographs of our present Supreme Council, employees and organizers, while the names of our local representatives we publish from time to time in our official organ. We look forward with confidence toward our 60th year jubilee convention to be held in Washington during May 1956, which will be the 25th in our history. We hope that this meeting will not only equal the honorable achievements of the past, but will also enact such resolutions, which may point toward the hundredth year jubilee. We do like to believe that the creative force of our Magyar heritage, the strength of our Calcinist faith will surmount all possible obstacles and our Federation, American in spirit, Magyar in its origin, Christian in its character will remain such for many, many years to come, as it was intended to be, and for which it was dedicated by its name: The Hungarian Reformed Federation of America.
