Church digest for our second and third generations

BETHLEN NAPTÁR 209 Bethlen Home last year and made a substantial contribution to­ward the new building. LEECHBURG, PA. For the past two years this congregation has had a new pastor, the Rev. Dr. László Vatai of Hungary. With him the congregation celebrated its silver jubilee last year. DETROIT, MICH. This congregation was reorganized by the Rev. John Nagy, the pastor. All buildings were remodeled and in a new church new life was started. The membership now in­cludes many displaced persons, who were helped by the minister to enter this country. WINDSOR, ONT., CANDA. This is the only church across the border in the fold of the Free Magyar Reformed Church. The congregation was without a pastor for some months and again recalled its old pastor, the Rev. Béla Bötykös, who had been serving them for many years previously. HUNGARIAN CONGREGATIONS IN THE REFORMED CHURCH IN AMERICA NEW BRUNSWICK, N. J. is one of our oldest and largest congregations in the East. Its pastor, the Rev. Andrew Kosa, under whose pastorate the congregation has taken great strides forward spiritually as well as financially, has served the con­gregation for 25 years. The church was completely rebuilt and became one of our most impressive churches. For his loyal service, the congregation honored the pastor at an anniversary banquet. MANVILLE, N. J. was served by the pastor of the New Brunswick Church until last year, when the congregation elected as its full time pastor, the Rev. Emery Bertalan. With its beauti­ful white church, impressive surroundings and loyal member­ship, this congregation looks forward to a prosperous future. SOUTH RIVER, N. J. For many years the Hungarian Re­formed people of this community were served in two churches by neighboring ministers. Recently, when the two split groups reunited, they were able to elect a fulltime pastor. The present pastor is the Rev. Emil Varga, who, with his background of work in American congregations, initiated many successful church programs. Youth work is emphasized and the support of the church is based on the Biblical “tenth’.
