Louis W. Goebel: A tribute to Bethlen Home
BETHLEN NAPTAR 239 A TRIBUTE TO BETHLEN HOME By: Dr. Louis W. Goebel The Bethlen Home, Ligonier, Penna., a charitable institution for orphans and old folks, is located in one of the most scenic sections of western Pennsylvania. This institution has been established and is maintained by the Hungarian Reformed Federation, which has its headquarters in Washington, D. C. This Federation and the institution which they support is the bond which unites the Reformed Hungarians of this country into a fellowship beyond the bounds of denominations. The beautiful town of Ligonier has in recent years come to be one of the most popular resort areas of this section of our country. Not only is it visited by thousands of vacationists during the summer months, but in winter it attracts a host of skiers to the nearby mountains. To have placed this institution in such a pleasant environment reveals great foresight on the part of the leaders of the Hungarian Reformed Church. The very atmosphere of the place is reflected in the happy faces of the children and old people. Here they have found a home in a most wholesome and pleasant environment. In our visit to this institution we were heartily welcomed by its superintendent, the Rev. Joseph Kecskemethy, and his very talented wife, as well as his associate, the Rev. Alexander Mircse, who serves as overseer of the Old People’s Home. Under the gracious and wise administration of these good people, this institution has come to be truly a home. The attachment of the children in the orphanage to their parents reveals that they receive the loving care characteristic of a Christian home. The beautiful modern home for the children, located within the confines of Ligonier itself, is equipped with every modern REV. L. W. GOEBEL, D.D.
