Bethlen Naptár, 1950 (Ligonier)

To our second generation. Superindent's semi-annual report

BETHLEN NAPTAR 237 at the Bethlen Home at which time Dr. Louis Goebel, president of the Evanngelical and Reformed Church, was our distinguished guest. The Rev. Michael Hőgye and the Rev. Nicholas Szüle, who recently arrived from Hungary, were also welcome guests at this time. The Rev. Hőgye wrote an excellent report on our home and broadcast it over the Voice of America. Since then, we have received many fine letters from among those who heard this particular broadcast. In June, 38 members of the Professional Club of Pittsburgh paid their annual visit to the Bethlen Home and were our guests for the day. Mr. Ferenc Nagy, former prime minister of Hungary, and his family were our week-end guests at the same time. On the Fourth of July, the Bethlen Home received 400 guests, including 24 clergymen, who assembled with us in order that the Molnár Bell might be dedicated in honor of the late Shephen Molnár, executive secretary of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America for forty years, and a plaque placed in the chapel in his memory. The women’s groups of the Free Magyar Reformed Churches of Trenton, N. J., Carteret, N. J., Philadelphia, Pa., and Perth Amboy, N. J., as well as the women’s groups of the Reformed Church of Woodbridge, N. J., and Cleveland West Side, Ohio, paid us week-end visits. These days were happy and uplifting occasions for all of us, creating much good-will toward our institution. We cordially extend an invitation to all groups to visit with us. It is in this way that one becomes better acquainted with our work. We received about one thousand visitors during the past six months’ period. It is with thanks to Almighty God that I close my semiannual report on our work, for it is He who gives us health, strength, faith and endurance in order that we might be better able to perform those tasks which have been entrusted to us. I gratefully acknowledge the help and spritual inspiration which were freely given to us by the members of the Hungarian Reformed Federation, the Supreme Council, our Board of Directors, Board of Managers, our pastors and their congregations. Joseph Kecskeméthy, superintendent.
