58 BETHLEN NAPTÁR In the Old Folks’ Home 62 old people were cared for — 32 men and 30 women, 45 of our Reformed faith, 15 Roman Catholics and 2 Greek Catholics. 24 of these folks were members of the Hungarian Reformed Federation, 22 were members of other Hungarian fraternal organizations and 14 were members of small lodges or had some material income from federal or state sources. In four years, 5 of our old folks died, 14 left of their own free will and 2 were asked to leave. On December 31, 1947, there were 41 guests at the Old Folks’ Home. Children and old people numbered 125 during this period. The two officers, their family members numbering 7, the paid employees and their family members numbering 8, brought the total number of people living at Bethlen Home to 142. On December 31, 1947, 84 people lived at the institution. Our Staff During the past four years the following people were on the staff of the Bethlen Home: Till November 15, 1944, Dr. Louis Nanassy was head of the institution, at which time he resigned because of ill health. His excellent leadership will be gratefully remembered always.. After his resignation, the Rev. Joseph Kecskemethy took over the leadership of the Bethlen Home along with his co-worker, who is also overseer of the old people, the Rev. Alexander Mircse. Both Mrs. Kecskemethy and Mrs. Mircse have been of untold help in the work of caring for old and young alike. Mrs. Imre Gacsalyi has been a cook at the Children’s Home, while Mrs. Mary Szabó has been housekeeper during these years. Temporary helpers were: Mrs. John Roberts, Margaret Nagy and Mrs. Zo'tan Ho’orsy. At the Old Folks’ Home, Mrs. OLD FOLKS ON THEIR SUN PORCH
