Az alábbi sorrendben lesznek üzem gyűlések a clevelandi megszervezett és az IWW kontrolja alatt levő gyárak munkásainak: OCT. 26th Dangler 1550 E. 40th St. 8 P. M. OCT. 27 American Stove Committees 1550 E. 40th St. 10 A. M. OCT. 29th 440 General Membership 8622 Buckeye Rd. Ezenfelül a szervező bizottság rendszeresen tart gyűlést több más gyárban dolgozó munkások részére melyet körlapokon adnak a munkások tudomására. Kommunistakudarc (Folyt, az 1-ső oldalról.) miképen gyümölcsöztetni akarták beavatkozásukat. (Hiszen ez náluk a legfontosabb.) Mindent kitaláltak, hogy beugrasz- szák a munkásokat — hamisított táviratokat olvastak fel — hogy már a new yorki kikötőben mind sztrájkba léptek a munkások, viszont New Yorkba röplapokat osztottak szét, hogy Philadelphiába már mind sztrájkolnak. így sikerült néhány hiszékeny munkást beugratni. Egy néhány helyen kisebb-nagyobb zavargás is történt néhány munkást elfogtak; de a hírhedt pénzgyűjtő szervezetük az ILD nem jelentkezett az elfo- gottak védelmére, akiket 10 dollár pénzbüntetésre Ítéltek és harminc napi dologházra. Az elfogottak között volt a Kommunista Párt egyik agent provokátor je is, akit minden büntetés nélkül szabadon bocsáj- tottak. így festett a Daily Worker- ben és az Uj Előrében nagyon hangoztatott sztrájk. Csak arra vagyunk kiváncsiak, hogy a “hívők” közül akad-e valaki aki követelni fogja tőlük, hogy írjanak annak a nagyon behirdetett sztrájknak az eredményéről. NEW YORKI IWW csoport és a Modern Színkör, most szombaton október 27-én, este 8 órai kezdettel nagyszabású szinelőadást és tánc- mulatságot rendeznek az uj Bérmunkás Otthonban 1351—3rd Ave. (a 77. utca közelében.) Színre kerül: AZ ÖNGYILKOS vígjáték egy felvonásban és a TESTAMENTUM paraszt komédia egyfelvo- násban, a legjobb szereplőkkel. Előadás után tánc! Belépti dij 35 cent! Pontos megjelenést kér, a bizottság. CLEVELAND west sidei magyar csoport NOVEMBER 3-án, szombaton este fél 8 órai kezdettel szin- előadással és tánccal egybekötött KEDÉLYES ESTÉLYT tart 3930 Lorain Ave.-n levő Dalkör nagy termében. Belépő dij taxel 30c. A mulatság tiszta jövedelme a Bérmunkás részére lesz fordítva. Minden olvasónkat és azok barátait ezúton is meghívja a rendezőség. Junior Column TOPICS IN GENERAL When a strike is being called in some factory or establishment, the principle reason for the walkout is insufficient pay Newspapers tell us how prosperously this country is getting along with F. D Roosevelt at the “reins” of the government since he evolved this new deal. Fair minimum wages were set in nearly all of the industries and yet the working people complain. Is it because the working class is greedy and wants more than their bosses can give them ? Why can’t they be satisfied with what they’ve got? I’ll tell you. When our President increased wages — say about 15 per cent. — everything was “fine and dandy.” Common people could now purchase the necessities of life and maybe a few luxuries besides. But this didn’t happen, for at the same time that the wages were raised, the prices of all commodities such as food, clothing, and sheltér were boosted a corresponding percentage — and a bit more. It seems to be even harder at present to “hang onto life” than before. Many things have been blamed for this rise in prices — especially the drought. But heat waves could never raise prices so much. It was the plowing under of crops, the wholesale slaughter of livestock, the burning of coffee, etc., that did it. A man with ragged clothes does not wear them because he likes to or that there is none in the stores. Department stores are overstocked. Why doesn’t this person walk in and take a suit or two? The reason is that they weren’t made for him — they were made for profit. The * people have been dumb long enpugh and now they’re waking to the fact that they’ve been getting a dirty deal. In a soldier’s hands a gun is a good weapon but not as good a weapon as is contained in our hands. By simply doing nothing and refusing to work the people could bring the World to a standstill. A mighty power they have there and they should use it. J. S. The time will come when “mom and pop” will have to pass away And when they do their work will stop Unless we “save the day.” To us they’ll give the flag of red And bid us, “raise it high!” Then as we etc — they know their end is nigh.
