are missing totally, furthermore that the material is of such a small extent that it is given either only in chronological order or only in alphabetical order. We are aware of the fact that even the most detailed classification system is not able to concentrate all materials from all points of view on one place. Therefore the different registers, lists of names, indexes are indispensable. In Vol. VII., the final volume a list of names, a topographical index, an index of institutions and a register of subjects are to be found. The lists, registers, indexes refer to the respective volume and within it to the numbers of entries. Their material was compiled on the basis of the catalogued titles and of the annotations. There may and will be failures in the bibliography the correction of which would not have been beyond our powers, there will be such ones the fighting down and elimination of which would have been too much for the whole team. Nevertheless we start this work with the conviction that despite its insufficiencies it gives considerable help to all those who are interested in the history of Budapest. If the failures will be detected and corrected, — by that too will be given valuable contributions to the knowledge of the past of Budapest. 15
