Designed by Samu Pecz, the Mechanical Technology (MT) building was built between 1907 and 1909 especially for the Department of Mechanical Technology founded in 1889. It is made up of two clearly separable parts: the two-storey pitch-roofed wing and a single-storey flat-roof hall. The singlestorey structure with basement connects to the two-span single-storey hall from the north and south. The northern wing with lateral passages contained the staff-rooms and the laboratories, whilst the northern one housed the foreman’s room and service areas. The hall divided into two larger parts was used as a joiner's workshop, engine workshop, textile workshop and a weaver shop. Theplansmadein November 1905 were approved by the municipal council in June 1906 with minor revisions marked in red. The basement floor-plan showed the location of the underground corridorand its connection to the building. The ground-floor plans document that a paper laboratory was added to the eastern side of the hall, later the configuration of the rooms within the hall was also changed: the engine workshop was extended, whilst the AZ MT ÉPÜLET FŐBEJÁRATA I THE MAIN ENTRANCE OF THE MT BUILDING
