to construct the Library, the Central Building as well as the three structures of the engineering laboratory and the one to house the Boiler-Room. The contractor thus undertook building the structures, doing the earthworks, masonry and construction works as well as laying the foundations of the brick pillars. Foundation works of the library building started in March, 1907 were completed by summer so that constructing the superstructure could commence right away. Data documented in the foundation drawing show that the mass beneath the facade walls was 2,4 m wide, whilst the lanes to support the inner pillars of the store had a width of 4,0 metres. As Pecz wrote in his notes: the foundations stood on "load-bearing" soil. R-C works were designed by Pál Lipták, whilst the contractor was the technical office of János Biehn's Rabitz and R-C Construction Department. General plans of R-C works were ready in spring 1907. The company conducted a load test in the students' reading hall on June 11th, 1909 in the presence of Pecz, Károly Nagy and Károly Arvé. The floor beneath the hall was loaded for 24 hours without causing any kind of visible crackings in the concrete. Sculptural details were made for the library building by sculptor Ignác Langer.
