ZSUZSA TEKE The commercial elite of Zágráb. A study based on the town one-thirtieth customs duty registers of the years of 1545-1548 According to the estimate of Pickl 13.2% of the foreign trade turnover of Hungary towards the South West went through the Zágráb "one-thirtieth customs" or its branch offices before 1566. The amount of the annual average of the one-thirtieth customs between 1545^7 was 2792.85 florins, and in 1559 it was 3616.25 florins. Therefore in the period in respect of which we have one-thirtieth customs registers, the annual revenue of the Zágráb one-thirtieth customs was probably between 2700-3600. Since the source registered only that portion - 200 florins - which was due to the town from the customs income, the source is not suitable for assessing the complete foreign trade turnover of the Zágráb people. However, it provides already an opportunity for getting acquainted with the foreign trading activity of the leading foreign trading families of Zágráb. The lecture on the basis of the one-thirtieth registers and using also other Zágráb related sources tries to map the commercial activity of the about ten families that united the largest traders of Zágráb, their relations within and outside the town, and the roles they played within the political life of the town. ATTILA RIGÓ TÓZSA The trade relations of the economic elite of Bratislava (Pozsony) The continuous data series of the Book of Prohibitions (1538-1566) of Bratislava are perfectly suitable for wide ranging quantitative analysis (the 1400 prohibitions that are entered into the town book processed in an SPSS database, produces about 22,000 data that are to be examined). By analysing the information base one may get a picture about the trading activity of the economic elite, and the relation system of the upper and medium class of Bratislava that went beyond the borders of the town. Within the examined relation net we succeeded in locating a relatively significant Nürnberg group. In order to explore more thoroughly the relation system it was indispensable to examine other Nürnberg sources as well, and through this we could see from which classes of Nürnberg - the town that was a trading and economic centre of that era - did those person come, who had been involved in the East oriented trade.
