1 Gárdonyi, 1913. p. 462 7 Toldy, p.7. 8 Gusztáv Altenburger /1842—?/, civil servant, heraldic writer; invited to design the Hungarian national arms; designer of the arms of various counties and cities. 9 The first designs, completed by March, 1873 /and lost by now/ were made by Gusztáv Altenburger, apprentice-at-law István Mikinszky and engraver Dietz. As these were not found satisfactory, a second series was made, in accordance with some new considerations put forward by experts. It is this second series whose pieces are preserved in the Budapest City Archives Gárdonyi, 1913-Pp. 402-403 10 "Having neither heraldic nor archeological significance whatsoever, the tulip/sic!/ visible on the seal of the crown city of Old Buda, , was... simply dropped." /Gárdonyi, 1913-PP- 402— 403.
