Német összefoglaló

Concerning regional document protection workshops in centres in the countryside Mrs. G. ßencze's point was answered by Mr. Iván Borsa and Mrs. Ágnes Ságvári giving information on the attempts so far and some of the shortfalls of the financial structure in this respect. Mr. Varga J. János informed the attending audience about a new initiative, namely that in some counties the idea to set up a joint book binding and microfilm shop for some public educational institutions was raised which would be by all means a step forward compared to poverty. Concluding the debate Mr. Iván Borsa summed up the contributions emphasizing the topics that give impetus to the document protection activity. He regards as important to follow the international special literature on document protection, to access translations of usable publications. He agrees with the plan to publish a handbook on document protection. It would be essential to circulate the rules and work instructions made so far and to solve the problems of special training and further training. The questions to utilize document protection facilities from a legal and labour point of view should be solved in the same manner as the education of paper restorers. It would be important to set up regional document protection shops. The consultations of the club day were closed by section chairperson Mrs. Ágnes Ságvárí. In her closing words she pointed out that the topicality of document protection is well proved by the fact that over 100 people are present including representatives of the media. In her part she empasizes a positive co-operation and the significance of exchanges of experiences among the institutions of the specific branch. However, progress in this respect is by no means satisfactory and it does not reach for example the level of institutional co-operation among archives, libraries and documentation in the Federal Republic of Germany. On behalf of the section she fully supports the 5-year development plan of the Archival Department of the Ministry of Education, however she would regard it necessary that the Archival Council exercised a bigger activity to realize the work ahead. She would find it appropriate to set up a body consisting of specialists of the area under the guidance of the ministry which would undertake the role of an advisor in the most important questions of document protection. She requests the Methodological Department of the New Hungarian Archives to support the cause of the protection of substance in a more intensive manner.
