Giving information on the activity of the Reprography Department of the National Archives Mr. Lajos Körmendy spoke about the applied reprography forms, the ways of film-making, giving preference to the 35 mm by 30 m microfilm coil. He gave an account on the activity of the microfilm shop that makes 1 to 2 million shots annually; the Xerox shop and the film archives that keeps 37 million filmshots. Mr. Gábor Vámos, the chief engineer of the Budapest Public Health Institute gave information on the vacuum and autoclave etilenoxid document disinfection process, pointing out that within the framework of cooperation with the Budapest City Public Record Office the disinfection of an area of 4,200 running metres of documents, drafts and microfilm materials have been carried out so far. Enumerating the advantages of microfilming archival documents Mr. Jenő Fehérvári department head of the National Photo Distributing Company reveiwed the quality and forms of film material and various projecting, elaborating, copying, reader-blow ups and other equipment for film storage. Mr. József Szekeres pointed out the achievements concerning the complex document protection work that has been going on for a decade now at the Budapest City Public Record Office (dusting, keeping material in boxes, disinfection and new stores) and he spoke about the experiences in connection with the setting up of reprography, book binding, microfilm and restoring workshops; the acquisition of machines and materials, reaching a favourable working technology, acquiring specialists and organising their training. Concluding his contribution he summarized his ideas on document protection at Hungarian archives in an eight-point proposal. In their contribution Erzsébet C. Harrach—Mrs. F. Solch spoke about the film store of 2 million pieces at the Budapest Public Record Office and the work done there. In his contribution, entitled Document Protection and Moving at the Budapest City Public Record Office, Mr. János Szász outlined the moving of 4,000 running metres of documents, drafts and maps from the unfavourable cellar store of the Bazilika, their placing into boxes, dusting, a massive disinfection and delivery, and, he described the different kinds of machines, equipment and means used during these works.
