Kós' First Steps as an Independent Architect

After the Second World War Kós re-started the School of Agriculture in Kolozsvár/Cluj and designed agricultural buildings for several collective farms (Kispetri/Petrinzel, 1952, Mezőkók/Pádureni, 1952). He published Mezőgazdasági építészet (Agricultural Architecture, 1957), a reference book containing his lectures on agriculture from 1948-49, richly illustrated and complete with specific examples. Between 1946 and 1948 Kós was a member of the Romanian Parliament representing the Magyar Népi Szövetség, a Hungarian party. He officially retired in 1952, at the age of 70, but continued to work after this date. During the 1960's and 1970's Kós received numerous awards from the Hungarian and Romanian states. Károly Kós died on the 24th of August, 1977 in Kolozsvár/Cluj. 179
