Fából és deszkából. A miskolci Deszkatemplom (Miskolc, 1999)

A Deszkatemplom története (összegzés angolul)

the same age as this part of the city. It is today the third largest cemetery in Miskolc with 12,000 graves, according to the 1988 data. Unfortunately, tombstones and grave markers are also transient, and there remain only a few that are relatively old, i.e. dating before the 19 th century. The memorials from the first thirty years of this century are crypts along the road going east and west. They are presently in a very dilapidated condition, though their value is very high because this location in the graveyard is the final resting place for prominent personalities of the city, some important historical families, church leaders, and bishops. The fire of December 1997 brought people together, becoming a significant event in the present-day history of the city. This demonstrates that in the ever more impersonal world at the end of the 20 th century, a community, city, or people is able to profit from its past, join together in the present reconstruction, and all of this in the interest of the future. The Deszka church was rebuilt in barely a year and a half, equipped with modern amenities and fire protection, maintaining the measurements, form, and most importantly the wood and board, which attests to the existence of a congregation which has roots — roots that are a guarantee for its future.
