The themes were very actual in the days the book was published because the pharmacies - all of them being in state ownership from 1945 were to be sold for private persons. This situation had given the idea to show the drug-stores, specially their original furniture still in existence and being famous for museum pieces. Of course the datas, photoes of the new pharmacies also have got place in this volume well documentating a special period ( 1950-1990) with its caracteristics in Hungary. In the same way old and new hospitals came into the volume with their everyday problems. Speaking about the problems give no solution for today but fixes them in the memory and will be a historical past in the sometime future. In 1997 on the „Day of the Town" the fourth volume of the serial will be published. In the meantime at the end of 1996 the Miskolcmonograph - a scientific access to the same subject - was published containing the history of Miskolc from the very beginning up to 1526. This way this serial remains a popular approach to the history of Miskolc whith mteresting particulars, complementing the strickly scientific monograph. The fourth volume of the serial is treating of two subjects: the lord-lieutenancy and one of the districts of Miskolc, namely the Győri kapu. It is very important to speak about the sometime lord-lieutenancy for the lord-lieutenant represented the state power in the counties and towns. His task was to realise the executive power politically and judicially. There were some interesting situations in the history of the town: in the cases when the society of Miskolc was against the government and the Lord Lieutenant was that of the government party, of course. The author tries to give an idea of the political atmosphere in different periods of the history of the town. For the sake of this from 1867 up to 1950 he analyses the activity of the Lord Lieutenants who were frequently in one person responsible both for the county and for the town. The second chapter is on a district of Miskolc with the changes of the district and the changes of the borders of the town. Today the Győri kapu involves three streets: the Hunyadi Street, the Tizeshonvéd Street and the Győri kapu Street. Due to the streets there are three subchapters to present their history. The first one (Hunyadi Street) is important from cultural and industrial point of view. The second one (Tizeshonvéd Street) deals with the sometime industrial factories and the present public institutions. The third subchapter has been intended to deal with the history and the present of Győri Kapu Street, but there was no possibility - because of the abundance of the historical resources - to include all the materials. Only the industrial factories and some of the buildings could get place in this volume. The next volume will bring the history of the architecture of the family houses and the new colonies in the Győr kapu Street. In finding the resources to this volume plenty of specialists has helped the author.
