Zoltán Várady: 18th-century Protestant Everyday Life (On the Basis of Contemporary Sources)

With the help of contemporary source material the study gives us a colourful picture of the life of Protestants in the 18th century. He delineates the Lutheran congregation of Bonyhád on the basis of József Borbély’s visitation in 1820. The work summarizing the history of the Calvinist Reformed community in Bogyiszló after the Ottomans, the “Album of Bogyiszló” combines the features of an early chronicle and of a register that preserved a number of data regarding the period in question. Finally, the author discusses the warrants of the litigation of József Gál, who first became a Calvinist preacher and then abandoned this faith. Also, he demonstrates the rather peculiar life of the main character previously elaborated in a study. The Hungarian translations of the original Latin sources prepared by the author will hopefully provoke interest in the era and its documents.

Zoltán Várady: Protestantisches Alltagsleben im 18. Jahrhundert (anhand zeitgenössischer Quellen)

Mit Hilfe zeitgenössischer Quellen beschreibt die Studie das Leben der Protestanten im 18. Jahrhundert. Er stellt die evangelisch-lutherische Kirchengemeinde von Bonyhád (Bonnhard) anhand der Visitation von József Borbély im Jahre 1820 dar. Das die Geschichte der reformierten Kirchengemeinde von Bogyiszló zusammenfassende Werk ist „das Album von Bogyiszló“, das die Züge einer Chronik und eines Matrikelbuches vereinigt und uns zahlreiche Daten bezüglich der Geschehnisse der erwähnten Epoche der Siedlung überliefert hat. Zuletzt erörtert der Autor die Resolutionen des Prozessmaterials des Apostaten József Gál und stellt den ziemlich seltsamen Lebenslauf der Hauptfigur dar, was in einer Studie bereits bearbeitet wurde. Es ist zu erhoffen, dass die vom Autor fertig gestellten ungarischen Übersetzungen der ursprünglich lateinischen Quellen das Interesse an der Zeitspanne und an ihren Dokumenten erwecken.
