Bona Gábor: Az 1848-as honvédsereg Baranya megyei származású tisztjei
THE OFFICERS OF THE HUNGARIAN ARMY OF 1848 FROM BARANYA G. Bona The study lists and gives the biographies of the officers born in Baranya County. During the freedom fight, excluding those who left the army on the turn of 1848-1849, there were 12 thousand officers. Among them 106 were born in the territory of the historical Baranya County. There were 9 field-officers (major or higher), 31 captains and 66 lieutenants when the fights were over. The officers also represent the county's national minorities. The most outstanding figures were lieutenant-colonels Lajos Gózon and Manó Bozó, artillery commander Vilmos Böhm and captain Gyula Jeszenszky, who died a heroic death leading his squadron. The introductory text of the paper, based on new research, gives a summary of the history of the troops, recruited from Baranya.
