Tamás SÜLE: "What is Bécs for Hungarians, that is Pécs for Germans" A reform Age feuilleton on Pécs and Baranya The sixth Meeting of Medical doctors and Naturalists was held in Pécs in 1845. Beyond its professional significance it was an important social event, as it is shown on the feuilletons of Imre Vahot, published in „Pesti Divatlap". The sources, apart from their value for cultural history contains descriptions of Pécs, Mohács, Siklós and Harkány in the middle of the last century. Serving his audience Vahot describes the feasts and dresses in detail, that other sources usually lack. The author publishes some excerpts of these articles, with a special emphasis on the meeting as a social event, Mihály ERNYES: From attendant to policemen, from pandour to gendarme The author, who published four books on the topic, deals with the organisation of the gendarme. The public security had a dual system, both city police and the gendarmerie worked in the same territory. The author outlines the hierarchy of these, and concludes, that in Transdanubia these investments were less focused than in
