Museums’ Night 2011 24th June 2011 The Museum of Applied Arts’ programmes that formed part of the 2011 Museums’ Night events series tied up with the exhibitions going on at the time and therefore had an Eastern flavour to them. This was the case with the Land of the Morning Calm exhibition at the Ferenc Hopp Museum of Eastern Asiatic Arts where visitors were given an insight into Korean art and culture. World Industrial Design Day 29,h June 2011 Within the confines of this Hungarian Design Council initiative works and projected images by contemporary designers and the subjective dictionary of a Polish graphic artist were all on show on a day when entrance to the Museum of Applied Arts was free of charge. The World Famous Jeweller - Fabergé and the Russian Imperial Family 17lh November 2011 Organised by the Museum of Applied Arts, the Friends of the Museum of Applied Arts and the Institute of Art History - Research Centre for the Humanities of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences visitors were invited to hear a lecture given by the world famous Fabergé expert, and curator of the Fabergé Collection at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Dr Géza von Habsburg. Wayang Workshop - The Shadows of Java, Shadow Theatre and Reality in Indonesia 26th-27lh November 2011 Organized by Vera Brittig, the Ferenc Hopp Museum of Eastern Asiatic Arts put on an open day for the benefit of puppeteers, drama teachers, theatre critics and those interested in Southeast Asian arts, where they could become acquainted with wayang art. Christmas at the Mansion Nagytétény Mansion, 3rd—30th December 2011 Visitors were greeted with the sight of a palace where each room contained a Christmas tree specially decorated by applied artists. The banquet hall hosted an exhibition entitled Honey-sweet Christmas featuring carved gingerbread moulds dating from the 17th—19th centuries, all coming from the Museum of Applied Arts’ collection. Museums’ Night 2012 16th June 2012 The Museum of Applied Arts programmes all revolved around the Art and Design for All exhibition focusing on the Victoria and Albert Museum. At the Ferenc Hopp Museum of Eastern Asiatic Arts, Korean programmes linked to the Land of the Morning Calm exhibition awaited visitors interested in Far-Eastern culture. 116
