Events 2009-2010

Erzsébet Brunner's birth Katalin Gellér se­lected works from the two oeuvres with the title Dreamwalkers in India. Speeches were held by General Director Zsuzsanna Ren­ner and the mayor of Nagykanizsa István Marton. Géza Bethlenfalvy described the life-paths of the artists and the occasion for the exhibition. The festive speech was held by His Excellency Gauri Shankar Gupta, the ambassador of the Indian Republic. On June 19 the Long Night of the Museums' program was also related to this exhibition with Indian music, Bollywood film projec­tions, the showing of puppets in costumes of various Indian regions, workshop and market. The exhibition was open from 19 June to 26 September. Curator of contemporary art, Eszter Ágnes Szabó organized the fourth Works Completed exhibition in November. The National Cultural Fund provides a grant annually for artists to improve their tech­niques or experiment with new ones. The outcome of this period is shown in these exhibitions permeated with the spirit of experimentation and innovation. There are autonomous creations, low-edition series, industrial designs, jewels, but this diversity provides a good cross-section of Hungari­an design and decorative arts. The central idea of the 2010 show was the trinity of light-illumination-projection. This theme was involved in nearly every genre: textile, ceramics, cloisonné enamel, various com­positional and material experiments. The artists presented various light sources, lamps, a pattern transferring method with silhouette play, and represented various modes of transparency. At the opening on 26 November Imre Takács, restored in October to the post of General Director, greeted the guests.
