4.1 stored, the missing wrought iron ornament once held in the raised left hand of the fig­ure was reconstructed. Another successor firm, Kandeláber Co. of Szentendre re­stored it again in 1991. The transfer into the museum was initiated by Dr. Charles Hüb­ner, a descendant of Gyula Jungfer on be­half of the artist's granddaughter Aliz Jungfer. It was shown in the New Acquisi­tions exhibition of the museum in 2006. Gift, 2006 Inv. no. 2006.122 4.2 Vase decorated with stag-beetle Gusztáv Jancsurák, Budapest, c. 1900 Embossed copper, patinated H.: 13.3 cm, mouth diam.: 11.5 cm, base diam.: 6 cm Born in 1878, Gusztáv Jancsurák was one of the leading coppersmiths of the Art Nouveau period. Better known than his own designs are his executions of designs by famous artists e.g. Pál Horti (1865-1907) whose drawings as well as patinating tech­nique were surely used by Gusztáv Jan­csurák. Little is known of him, although he regularly participated in the Christmas ex­hibitions of the Society of Decorative Arts and even won a medal awarded by the min­ister of trade. This small vase adorned with oak leaves and stag-beetles in relief came into the Museum of Applied Arts as part of a set of objects originating from the de­scendants of Jancsurák living in the coun­1.3 124
