Museum of Applied Arts, Budapest, Archive, Inv. photonegative. 2193. — The bow-case in Petrasch - Sänger - Zimmermann - Majer 1991, p. 241, cat. 190, inv. no. D 94) is - if we disregard the frame pattern - an almost exact variant of a bow-case formerly kept in the Esterházy collection at Fraknó. 21 László Révay travelled to Istanbul as Miklós Esterházy's envoy in 1621. In his diary, he described a procession attended by Sultan Osman II, who was starting out on a military campaign. In this procession, two zülüflü agasii, who were going on ahead of the sultan, wore 'diamond-encrusted quivers' at their side. From the diaries kept by János Dualszky, László Révay, Márton Révay, and Zsófia Esterházy, 1600-1655. Magyar Történelmi Tár 3, (1857), p. 249. 22 We find an example of a case covered over its entire surface among the goods inventoried in 1684 in Munkács Castle: 'Case fully covered with sheet silver, with arrow holder'.
