Gabriella Balla COLLECTIONS OF MINOR OBJECTS "The Museum of Applied Arts" Engraving/diorama Arnold Gross, 1998 46 x 36 x 5 cm The graphic artist Arnold Gross held his inaugural exhibition in the Museum of Applied Arts in 1996. The artist has always had strong emotional ties with the Museum: in 1972 he made a coloured copperplate engraving to mark the centenary of its foundation. Utilizing this work the artist has made a triptych-like diorama composition showing the domed main entrance to the building. Gross often uses architectural elements in his graphic art work, and this time he has created a spatial work leaving behind a mere two dimensions, by populating the foreground with handpainted miniature figures in turn-of-the-century attire. Purchased from the artist, with funds from the Budapest Bank for Budapest Foundation, 1998 Inv. No.: 98.58 Hilda Horváth
