The Pagoda will be forwarded to your address by Messrs Mathias Rohde and Co of Hamburg. / We have the greatest difficulty in obtaining the Pagoda. The manufacture of this article which was at no time of great importance has almost entirely ceased. It is true that a somewhat similar article is made in Northern Japan, but it is entirely on modern lines and without any artistic value and does not show any resemblance to the imposing pieces made in olden times. What we have sent to you is, on the contrary, a facsimile of a very old and famous piece standing in the grounds of the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. It was originally intended for a Japanese Nobleman in Korea, but on account of the war transportation was unsafe and the Nobleman consented to let us have it. We hope that the Pagoda will arrive in good condition and will be satisfactory by you. / We enclose our bill amounting to Yen 283.00. Kindly pay the amount to our Mr. S. Komor in Budapest..." Cf. HMDD No.: A 1679/12/8. - The bill with the note "paid, 12 September 1904" see HMDD Nos.: A 1679/12/9-10.
