On the shaded surface one can see a knotted line and twig pattern. Purchased from Lia Illés. Inv. No. 89.604.1 56. Knotted carpet Produced in the workshop of Árpád Vértes, 1938-40 Wool, 300 x 170 cm Exhibits a Persian pattern; in the sandy middle field there are tendrils in violet­pink and yellow combined with crested leaves constituting a grid. In the middle, a stylized shield appears with a three-pointed crown mounted on it. In the border there is a Herati pattern, at both ends woven bands with a fringe. Purchased from Lia Illés. Inv. Prayer rug Anatolia, early 19th century Knotted from wool, 227 x 162 cm In the green middle field there is a bunch of flowers set in a prayer niche with serrated arch; on two sides a sequence of floral mo­tifs. Above the arch in green field a series of stylized carnations appears. In the border a frieze composed of palmettes and double "apple" patterns appears against a brown background. Produced for the Por­tugnese market, early 17th century Embroidered on linen with flax thread, 263x213 cm In the outer band of the wide border there are small animals among foliage and in the corners in each of the round medallions there are scenes with figures. In the narrow inside band one sees hunters and game among the trees; in each of the corners there is a nymph. The four corners of the middle field display scenes from the Old Testament framed with a snake, with illeg­ible ribbon-like sentences. In the middle in triple circles are hunting scenes with real and imaginary creatures. In the middle are a man and woman facing each other. Presented by Valéria Rácz. Inv. No. 89.617.1 59. Purse Austrian (?), c. 1760 Embroidered, 10.5 x 8.5 cm Set in a shield-shape, its face and reverse side are fully covered with embroidery made of metal thread and silk thread. On one side there is a peasant boy picking fruit, on the other side a peasant girl with a fruit basket on her head. The lining is made of pink silk, the buckle of silver.
