(Nemeskéri, 1961 ) on the situation and the evolvement of the activities, as well as the earlier period, of the Anthropological Department, so that a short survey of the antecedent events and staff history suffices in this place. It Is known that our Institute has been established, and its museological activities began, on 1 March, 1945, by the arranging of the collection material excavated during the period spanning the two world wars (cf.op. cit.). Theisituation under development was also administratively stabilized by a decision of the Ministry of Religion and Education in June, 1945. In the organization of the Department, J. Nemeskéri laboured pre-eminently, having acted as Director until 15 July, 1965
