Dr. T. Tóth szerk.: Studia historico-anthropologica (Anthropologia Hungarica 10. Budapest, 1971)

(Nemeskéri, 1961 ) on the situation and the evolvement of the activities, as well as the earlier period, of the Anthropologi­cal Department, so that a short survey of the antecedent events and staff history suffices in this place. It Is known that our Institute has been established, and its museological activities began, on 1 March, 1945, by the arrang­ing of the collection material excavated during the period spanning the two world wars (cf.op. cit.). Theisituation under development was also administratively stabilized by a decision of the Ministry of Religion and Education in June, 1945. In the organization of the Department, J. Nemeskéri laboured pre-emin­ently, having acted as Director until 15 July, 1965 1 ' ) . Another participant in the formation of the Department is S. Wenger, Deputy Director since May, 1966. Among our leading anthropolo­gists, our scientific staff included P. Lipták (1949— ±3&0) 2 \ M. Malan (1948-1962 ) 3 \ E. Bâtai (1951-1953), M. Deák (1951­1955), A. Thoma (1960-1964) 4 '*, Gy. Dezső (1960-1968 ) 5 ^, K. Éry 6 ) (1962-I970) .
