St. Stephen of Hungary Parish’s Pastor tells the Arany János Hungarian School to find a ne\> location July 15. 2000 As a Hungarian parishioner of St. Stephen and as a parent whose daughter attended Arany Janos Hungarian School, I felt compelled to write and take on the cause for the Arany Janos Hungarian School. I chose to write this in the English language so that it would not fall to misinterpretation when it is read by the non-Hungarian clergy. A letter was sent by the non-Hungarian Pastor of St. Stephen to the Hungarian School, and it cited unseemly incidents in the classroom such as a calculator, folder, soda cap glued to a desk, a silver marker which had been used to scribble on top of two desks and a seat of a chair with carvings. But more importantly, the letter stated that in light of theses incidents, the church will no longer host the school, implicating that these "incidents" were done by the students in the Hungarian School. These allegations are without merit. During the Saturday’s teachings, the students are well-supervised in the classroom. More disturbing however, is the fact that this was used to dismiss an entire body of students, Hungarian students, from a Hungarian-founded church that proclaims its promotion of Hungarian culture and language as an integral part of its mission. To displace the Arany Janos Hungarian School from St. Stephen’s parish after 37 years, undermines the mission of the church. This drastic desision also offends the Hungarian community. The education of the children in the Hungarian language and culture is further burdened. The pastor’s letter states, "The Hungarian Lay Committee of St. Stephen of Hungary Parish, therefore, will immediately begin to explore how the parish will fulfill this integral part of its mission after it ceases hosting the Arany Janos Hungarian School." This statement is not only ironic but erroneous. The parish has never made the decision to cease hosting the school, the decision was made unilaterally by the Pastor and an administrator. The definition of Parish is not synonymous with the definition of Pastor. János Pál pápa által megáldott másolatát. Az ereklye augusztus 15-én, Nagyboldogasszony ünnepére érkezik Esztergomba, majd még aznap Budára. A katolikus egyházfő a korona másának megáldásával azt a gesztust ismétli meg, amelyet ezer esztendővel ezlőtt II. Szilveszter pápa tett, amikor koronát és áldást küldött Szent Istvánnak. A szentatya ezzel ünnepélyesen megújítja a Szent Koronával egykor küldött apostoli áldást is. II. János Pál pápa július 5-én áldotta meg, majd nyújtotta át a Szent Korona e célra készített számára korábban eljuttatott másolatát. A menet, amely kezdetben mintegy negyven résztvevőből áll, 28 nap alatt teszi meg az 1200 kilométer Esztergomig.
