Her memory remains vivid even today. "The wife of a Habsburg emperor who was brought up to be anti- Hungarian, but who in spite of this, became fond of the Hungarians and helped them". Grateful Hungarians have named one of the Danube bridges and an avenue to preserve her name. Much of what has been said about her is based more on legend than fact, but here we will try trace the course of her life free from the temptation of nostalgia. ______________________
