A Mígy« Hírmondú, A TOURISTS’ WONDERLAND Hungary's geographical situation, natural and touristic features greatly determine the country's tourist traffic. Over three hundred resorts and spas by lakes, rivers and hillsides make Hungary ideal for recreation and relaxation. Nature-lovers can find their fair share of fun in three national parks, twenty-nine protected areas and some thirty arboretums, as well as twenty- four caves open to the public. Approximately four hundred places are suitable for sports and hiking, and another eighty-three rest-homes, ten thermal baths and three climatic health resorts also await visitors. Well over four hundred secular and ecclesiastical historical monuments, some five hundred museums, regional ethnographic houses and exhibitions provide meaningful programs for the visitors. Other tourist attractions include international and Hungarian sport programs, art display and fairs. The main points of interest in Hungary are Lake Balaton, the biggest warm-water lake in Europe, the Danube Bend, Lake Velence and the Ma’tra-Biikk Mountains, which are presently the principal target of complex development plans. The le of tourism Many people, especially those spending their holidays in Hungary for the first time, are eager to learn about its customs, culture and social life, especially since many articles have recently been devoted to ‘these subjects in the Western press. Tourism is a good source of information and a good catalyst of friendship between peoples of different cultural backgrounds. Hungarians have their share of travel, too. According to recent statistics, approximately 70% of the country's population engages in some form of tourism, whether at home or abroad. Foreign tourism in Hungary has by now reached a highly significant level, and has become a favorable influence on the national economy. The country's hard currency revenues have increased considerably, due in no small measure to her foreign relations policies. The number of visitors from Britain, for instance, increased noticeably in the wake of the official visit paid by Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and the succesful Hungarian Week in London. The visit by Helmuth Kohl and Bettino Craxi have done much the same to boost West German and Italian tourism. It is worth mentioning that convertible foreign currency revenues between 1978 and 1983 rose from an annual $ 106 million to $ 255 million. With 12 million foreign tourists (over 3 million from the West) visiting the country in 1984, this year promises to be the most succesful tourist year Hungary has ever enjoyed. Behind these excellent results lie, no doubt, the reliable supply of goods, the country's exchange policy, improved organization, and a more flexible price policy, as well as its extended hotel capacity. Film festival entries BUDAPEST. Livia Gyarmathy's "Coexistence", dealing with inter-marriage between different ethnic groups living in Hungary, is the Hungarian entry as the week- long international film festival in Strasbourg: selection of 13 features by Peter Bacsó, including such worldwide hits as "The Witness", "Oh, Bloody Life", and "The Day Before Yesterday" were shown. "Oh, Bloody Life" is to be screened at the international festival in Antwerp. He could not possibly look like the painting of Him For they are all from the artists imagination... And would you believe Him if He said His name is Yeshua, His true Hebrew name not the Greek anglicized version? Would he say: I know not your Christianity... For I worshipped in accordance with Judaic teachings, Observing the tenets and traditions of my ancestors? Also, He might say, Christianity is a religion That evolved about me and what is taught as "dogma" may be only symbolic stories. My desire was to Encompass everyone even the heathen, knowing that "Ye are all brethren." He would say again: "Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord Is One Lord:and thou shalt love The Lord thy God with All thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, And with all thy strength, and the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is non Other commandment greater than these." Have we forgotten that He said, "By their deeds we shall know them"? And this: " In my Father's House there are many mansions"? He would say, Adoration is not enough. Understanding, compassion, humanism, is expected of each and everyone. All must seek the paths of righteousness, manifested only in Unselfish acts. Only then can peace and love fill your Hearts and help you to enjoy your earth and all therein. You were given the ability to rise to heights of greatness, For you were endowed with the greatest gift and power... An ability to LOVE. Find ways to become peace-loving people Or the result will be total annihilation and the Destruction of everything that was created for you! Sylvia Blair Selijka Anna TAVASZI SZÉL
