ANGLO-HUNG ÁRIÁN OCCASION: In agreeable mood, János Kádár exchanges a point with Margaret Thatcher in Parliament on Friday photo mti — ZOLTÁN POLYA ) Mrs .Thatcher in official Budapest talks SEES HUNGARIAN LEADERS Budapest, Feb 3 (MTI) — Although on foreign political questions the attitudes of the two governments are different, both countries are interested in maintaining East-West relations and in relaxing tensions, it was noted at the talks held in Buda­pest on Friday between visit­ing British Prime Minister Mar­garet Thatcher and her Hun­garian host Prime Minister György Lázár. First thing on Friday morning, Mrs Thatcher—here on an offi­cial visit at the invitation of the Hungarian Prime Minister—laid a wreath at the Hungarian He­roes1 Monument in Budapest’s stately Heroes’ Square. Following this, a private con­versation was held in Parliament between Lázár and Thatcher, the first British Prime Minister to make an official visit to Hun­gary. This was followed by of­ficial British-Hungarian talks in Parliament’s Delegation Hall. The Hungarian delegation, headed by György iLázár, included Vice- Premier József Marjai, Deputy Foreign Minister Ferenc Eszter­PHOTO MTI — LAJOS SOOS PM BOWS TO HEROES: Mrs Thatcher’s day began with the laying of a wreath at the Hun­garian Heroes’ Monument gályos and Hungarian Ambassa­dor in London Rezső Bányász. The British side, headed by Mrs Thatcher, included Assistant Foreign Secretary Sir Julian Bul­lard, Private Secretary to the Prime Minister John Coles, and British Ambassador in Budapest Peter William Unwin. At the plenary session, topical international subjects were dis­cussed. The two sides exchanged views about the present state of the disarmament talks, possibi­lities for their continuation, and related prospects. At these talks held in sincere cordial atmosphe­re, they also surveyed a broad range of the Hungarian-British bilateral relations, and possibili­ties for their further develop­ment. ■ At the end of the talks, the British Prime Minister made a short walk around Parliament building. President Pál Losonczi then received Mrs Thatcher in Par­liament’s Munkácsy Hall. Among those present were Ferenc Esz­tergályos and Rezső Bányász, John Coles and Peter William Unwin. Following this, a meeting took place in Parliament between HSWP First Secretary János Ká­dár and Margaret Thatcher. At the meeting held in open cor­dial Atmosphere, they exchanged views about topical questions of the international situation and East-West relations, and trends in Hungarian-British relations. The British Prime Minister in. the afternoon went sightseeing. In the evening, a banquet was gi­ven in the Hunters’ Hall of the Parliament Building by György Lázár in honour of Margaret Thatcher.
