BEHIND THE AIRLINER TRAGEDY

(Excerpts from an article in the Sept.l3th issue of the Denver Post by Tom Bernard and T.Edward Eskelson, former RC 135 pilots.)

Hol, mikor, mire alkalmazható a tuszúra- sos módszer?- Főként olyan funkciózavaroknál, melyeket nem alaki, kórszövettani elváltozások okoznak. Ilyenek például a gyomor-bél traktus működészavarai, az ideges hasmenés, a gyomorhurut bizonyos fajtái. Fájdalommal járó megbetegedések, például mozgásszervi elváltozások vagy perifériás ideggyulladások tüneti kezelésére is használják, ahol gyulladás-csökkentő hatással is számolhatunk. Természetesen az akupunktúrát nem érdemes olyan betegségeknél- alkalmazni, ahol biztosabb módszerünk van. Bevált gyógyszeres terápiákról lemondani hiba volna. Es vannak aztán olyan esetek, ahol kifejezetten ellenjavallt az akupunktúra.

Mi a helyzet a világban?- - A fejlődő országokban az Egészség- ügyi Világszervezet pártolja e viszonylag olcsó eljárás alkalmazását. A Távol-Keleten érthetően nagyon elterjedt. A Szovjetunióban elméleti és módszertani kutatásokat végeznek, a gyakorlatban - egyebek közt baleseti sérülések utókezelésében

alkalmazzák. Csehszlovákia? Brnoban két éve nemzetközi kongresszust rendeztek. Ide az NDK-böl és Lengyelországból is fölkészült előadók érkeztek. Romániában hagyományai vannak az akupunktúrának. Bulgária ad otthont nemzetközi tanácskozásnak. Nyugat-Európában és a tengeren túl is nagy a kultusza. A kétségtelenül létező’, de még csak részelképzelésekben tisztázott hatásmechanizmusra az egész világon biokémiai és neurófizikai magyarázatokat keresnek. Mig a Távol-Keleten

Obscured by what will surely be claimed as legitimate national security matters, the U.S. government possessed the capability to directly intercede during the entire sweep of events culminating in the annihilation of Korean Air Lines Flight 007. Few facts ‘concerning that capability have been brought to public attention.

Based on the information disclosed by the Reagan administration during the last two weeks, it is clear that a major effort has been undertaken to bewilder the American public concerning the capabilities of the U.S. Air Force RC-135 and, more importantly, the National Security Agency.

As former crewmembers on an RC-135 aircraft, we find official statements concerning the extent of its involvement prior to and following the KAL shootdown incompatible with our experience. Official sources have attempted to minimize the capability of the RC-135 by alleging that its mission off the coast of the Soviet Union was for the purpose of "verifying compliance with arms control agreements." Other sources have portrayed the RC-135 as a passive listening device. The president stated that the aircraft was back at its base in Alaska for a full hour prior to the actual Sovjet attack on KAL Flight 007, implying that no RC-135s were in the vicinity during that time frame.

The RC-135 has a super-advanced, ultra- secure communications system which is linked to the most sophisticated communications network in the world. 'This system, sometimes referred to as "backchannel," permits the instantaneous reporting of tactical intelligence to the highest levels of the U.S. government, including the

A tender was submitted by the Austrian consortium PORR (Porr Hinterregger Hochtief Ag. Warimpex) contractors and has been accepted for the construction of a new passenger terminal and catering facilities at Budapest-Ferihegy Airport. Its technical, commercial and credit terms were the most favorable. In May the complex Hungarian Foreign Trade Company signed a preliminary agreement with the contractors providing for the turn-key completion of the Budapest Airport Terminal and Catering Centre. The builders established quarters on location in August and start constraction. The deadline for completion is October 1985. The construction of ancilliary projects, such as the apron and the driveways, area illumination, etc. has been entrusted to Hungarian firms.

The terminal will have a floorspace of 24,400 sq. meters and its built-in area will enclose 113.000 cubic meters of airspace. It will be able to cater for two million passengers a year.

This is but a single capability of the

communications system carried by the RC-135.

Within these capabilities of the RC-135 lie the precise reasons we believe that the entire sweep of events - from the time the Soviets first began tracking KAL Flight 007, to "confusing" it with the American reconnaissance aircraft, to the moment Soviet fighter airplanes sitting on Soviet airfields were ordered to go from "standby" to "alert" status due to the

potential penetration of their airspace by an "intruder aircraft," to the time of the shootdown - was meticuously monitored and analyzed instantaneously by U.S. intelligence.

Without sounding like apologists for Soviet actions, we believe, based upon our experiences, that the official U.S. version of events is incomplete and misleading. There are serious questions in our minds as to not only what specific role did the

capabilities of the RC-135 play in the

eventual shooting down of the KAL airliner, but also why these capabilities were never utilized in an attempt to head off the tragedy.

We believe that only a full disclosure of the facts held by the NSA will provide the answers required by the American public concerning this tragic event.

The movement of passengers and their friends will be facilitated by lifts and escalators. The terminal will resemble similar buildings at Sheremetievo and Hanover outside and inside.

NEW CONFERENCE CENTRE UNDER CONSTRUCTION IN BUDAPEST

The Novotel Hotel of Budapest opened its doors last July. The Austrian firm Julius Eberhardt has now started the construction of a Conference Centre. It is expected that the Congress Hall, when completed, will boost hotel turnover. The congress hall will be completed by March 1985. and is financed by Austrian credits made available to Hungary for tourist facilitions. The services to be offered by the conference centre are expected to meet every demand. A 16-language synchrenous interpreting system will be incorporated. The facilities will be suitable for large conferences, hosting a 1000 or more, and small private parties alike, as the hall can be divided into compartments catering for some 200 persons each.
