BERETZ 7520 Woodmar Avenue Hammond, Ind. 46323 Tel.: 219-844-8632 LEGAL ADVISOR DIES On January 4, 1972, we buried Dr. Arthur Richard Moor legal advisor to our synod, and former council member. His funeral was held in Hartford, Connecticut. The Rev. Joseph Mar- salko preached the funeral sermon in Hungarian and the Rt. Rev. Bishop Arpad Beretz gave the Eulogy in English. Others participating in the service were: Dr. Stephen Böszörményi, Dr. John Butosi, Rev. Joseph Kecskemethy and Dr. Alexander Ha- vadtoy. The passing of Dr. Moor is a great loss to our Calvin Synod and to our Reformed faith. with any congregation at this time. Bishop Beretz also visited Dr. and Mrs. Francis Újlaki and the Rev. and Mrs. Stephen Csutoros. COUNCIL ON MISSION PRIORITIES The Council on Mission Priorities met at the Sheraton-O’Hare in Rose- mont, Illinois on February 1-4. Bishop Beretz and the Rev. D. Par- ragh participated in the denominational meetings. ANNUAL SYNOD MEETING Our congregations are requested to elect delegates and alternate delegates to the 34th Annual Meeting of Calvin Synod at the March meeting of their consistories if they have not already done so. Details of our April 24-26 meeting in Bridgeport, Connecticut will be mailed to each church together with Hotel Reservation (Holiday Inn) cards. Also, please send $100.00 Travel Equalization Fund to the Synod Treasurer, the Rev. Joseph Kecskemethy, as soon as convenient. Recommendations by the Spring Classes Meetings to the Annual Synod Meeting should be sent to the Bishop’s office as soon after the meetings as possible. BETHLEN HOME MEETING On Thursday, January 27, 1972, our Bishop represented Synod at a special meeting called by the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America in Ligonier, Pa. to discuss the future work of the Bethlen Home. ORIENTATION FOR NEW CONFERENCE EXECUTIVES Bishop Beretz attended an orientation session in New York City for new conference executives on March 6-8, 1972. The purpose of the meeting was to become acquainted with Instrumentality Executives and their work. CAMP 1972 The dates set for our Calvin Synod Camp is August 13 -19. (Sunday afternoon through Saturday breakfast.) Cliff Hoover, camp manager, writes that the cost per week will be increased by $2.00 per week. It is our hope that this will not mean an increase for our campers. CHURCH WORLD SERVICE A film strip entitled “Dear Friend” is available to our congregations. It deals with the East Pakistan refugee situation. Please write the Synod office for your reservation date. WEDDING BELLS Our congratulations to the Reverend and Mrs. Leslie Egry on the occasion of the marriage of their daughter Nan to Mr. Peter Todd Katzenbach on Saturday, January 22, 1972 in Woodbridge, N. J. We wish God’s blessing on the newly weds! YOUTH Classis Youth Conferences are being held throughout the year. The Eastern Classis Youth met in the fall. Our Western Classis Youth have been meeting regularly each month at different churches and our Lakeside youth will meet on May 7, 1972 at our West Side Cleveland church. A meeting of the Youth Committee of Calvin Synod and the Youth Committee of the Hungarian Reformed Church in America is planned for August in Ligonier, Pa. to formulate plans for a joint ecumenical camp in 1973. HUNGARY VISIT POSTPONED Owing to the pressure of Synodical and Congregational work, Bishop Beretz has postponed his visit to the Reformed Church in Hungary until a later date. BISHOP VISITS MIAMI At the urgent request of the Rev. Nicholas Varkonyi, pastor of our Miami congregation, and others, Bishop Beretz made a pastoral visitation on January 21-23. He met with the consistory, preached, and participated in the Annual Congregational Meeting on January 23.
