6 REFORMÁTUSOK LAPJA Calvin Synod Meeting, Ligonier, Pa. 1970. rctxjcr offered at the Funeral Services of Dr. Arthur Moor, Legal Counsellor of Calvin Synod by Rev. Joseph Kecskemethy, Synod Treasurer. Almighty God, who in Christ Jesus did bring us the power of endless life, and who has given us our loved-ones, we trust Thee, though the music of life is stilled in a soul dear to his sorrow-laden family, friends and co-workers. Thou did inspire the affection, joy and faith, the love, service and sacrifice he shared so intimately with his immediate family and all his friends. Only Thou can understand therefore the broken hearts and can only measure our grief. O Christ, Lord of life and death, as we see the music of fife stilled in a heart that was always ready to live and witness for Thee, to act through wisdom and to give and forgive through love, and to serve Thy cause in public as well as in church-life, we beseech Thee to speak Thy Word of Resurrection and life to us all. Assure his loved ones and all of us who believe, of Thy conquest over death and of the vigil of Thy everlasting love for dear ones. Our Father, as this casket mutely, yet ever so articulately tells us what we are: how fragile, how extinguishable and how fleeting human life is, make the light of faith to shine through blinding tears in every eye. Let the echo of heavenly music in the Gospel cause all of us to listen for Thy unending song of triumph. Lord of time and eternity, we thank Thee for the precious years and enriching companionship which united the hearts of the departed and his family. We too as co-workers are deeply grateful for his life, his good examples, his wise counsel, both in public and in church life. Let the faith, hope and love we treasured together shine down the future’s broadening way, and cause the night of grief to be transformed into a waiting for Thy Kingdom. Sanctify our sorrow with thy presence that we may follow Thy leading even through the valley of the shadow of death and rejoice in the glory of Thy love and promise of eternal life, through our Lord, the living Christ.. . Amen. VOX DILECTI I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Come unto Me and rest; Lay down, thou weary one, lay down Thy head upon My breast.” I came to Jesus as I was, Weary and worn and sad, I found in Him a resting place, And He has made me glad. I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Behold, I freely give The living water; thirsty one, Stoop down and drink, and live,” I came to Jesus, and I drank Of that life-giving stream; My thirst was quenched, my sould revived, And now I live in Him. I heard the voice of Jesus say, “I am this dark world’s Light; Look unto Me, thy morn shall rise, And all thy day be bright.” I looked to Jesus, and I found In Him my Star, my Sun; And in that Light of life I’ll walk, Till traveling days are done. Amen. A TRUE MISSIONARY is God’s Man in God’s Place, doing God’s Work, in God’s Way, for God’s Glory! m ere Zlo rrHooL I LOOK NOT BACK—God knows the fruitless efforts, The wasted hours, the sinning and regrets; I leave them all with Him who blots the record, And graciously forgives, and then forgets. I LOOK NOT FORWARD-God sees all the future, The road that, short or long, will lead me home; And He will face with me its every trial, And bear for me the burden that may come. I LOOK NOT AROUND ME-then would fears assail me, So wild that tumult of life’s restless sea; So dark the world, so filled with war and evil, So vain the hope of comfort and of ease. I LOOK NOT INWARD—that would make me wretched For I have nought on which to stay my trust. Nothing I see but failures and shortcomings, And weak endeavors crumbling into dust. BUT I LOOK UP-Up into the face of JESUS! For there my heart can rest, my fears be stilled; And there is joy, and love, and light for darkness, And perfect peace, and every hope fulfilled.
