Hungarian Reformed Religious Paper Founded in 1900 OFFICIAL ORGAN OF THE CALVIN SYNOD — UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST P KAYE R at the opening of the 33rd meeting of Calvin Synod Almighty God our heavenly Father!! We are gathered together again at this time in Thy name and for Thy purpose to give Thee thanks for all the benefits Thou has bestowed upon us during this period of life in our Synod and during the 80th year of our stay on these faraway shores. We glorify Thy name that Thou has spoken to our fathers of old and have preserved their lives during the stormy and bloody centuries under manifold and fatal subjugations. We thank Thee that even under these crucial circumstances Thou has spoken in bringing good news, encouragement and hope, that through these cleansing fires Thou will preserve those who cling to Thee and that Thou will be their help, hope and haven. We thank Thee for Thy help during the trials and for the souls faithful to Thee and to the principles of a more perfect life and for our preparation to it. We thank Thee for our burning hearts offered in ransom for our Church and nations, but especially for the chosen ones of Thy invisible but glorious and everlasting Kingdom. Help us to be faithful to Thee, to our heritage, to the martyrdom of our forefathers and to the heritage of our own pilgrim fathers who gathered together Thy dispersed children seeking new hope, a new home, and a better future. Help us to do everything according to Thy will and under Thy guiding hand, as those who are seeking Thy footsteps in this valley of sorrows leading to our promised better and everlasting stay. Help us to understand Thee and each other; to cherish each other as Thy children, different in person, but united in Thee. Help us to have a blessed meeting and discussions pleasing to Thee, inspired by Thy Spirit so that we may be a blessing to our congregations, our Synod, to the dispersed faithful mother church and nation, and to be a blessing on these shores of hope and haven to all those who are around us. Let Thy Spirit inspire, encourage and bless our hearts, our discussions and decisions in Thy name that at the end Thou mayest say to us: Well done, my servants, my fellow-workers, my sons .. . and May you be blessed in your homes and outside your homes, in your bodies and in your souls, on the earth and in the heavens, both now and forevermore!
